Soaring above Rhode Island with Deepwater Wind

Just a day like any other for Sean McVeigh Media and RI Drone Services – completely new, different and exciting.

We were lucky enough to spend some time with the folks from Deepwater Wind as they prepare for the launch of first offshore wind farm in the United States. The journey to get to our location was as breathtaking as the shoot itself. Our little 6-passenger plane took off from Westerly for the quick flight to Block Island early in the morning, with a detour right over the 600-foot high turbines. Then we braved some choppy waves and sea swells to get up-close-and-personal with the wind farm itself.

Looking forward to seeing the turbines start generating power to this beautiful island in mid-November. Take a look!
