voiceoverSometimes a professional voiceover is the best option for videos.  Company speakers are not trained actors. Their speech patterns are generally replete with “um”s and “you know”s and “like I said”s. Also, their cadences and direction is often somewhat monotone.  Adding a voiceover with the right inflection and tone can make your corporate video come to life and be on target. When selecting a professional voiceover consider the following:

  • Male or female audience
  • Demographic
  • Age group
  • Personality types
  • Corporate
  • Family-orientated
  • Independent, singles

You also need to give the voice artist  direction with the read.  What vocal style would make a connection with the audience?

  • Warm
  • Relaxed
  • Smooth
  • Hip and cool
  • Quirky
  • Conversational
  • Corporate-professional
  • Authoritative
  • Caring
  • Motherly
  • Sexy
  • Positive, upbeat
  • Humorous
  • Nerdy

The pacing which refers to the speed of the delivery also can have an effect on your audience:

Is there an urgency to the message?

Do you want to up the energy to get people’s attention?

Is it a service or product that is designed to induce relaxation?

Or is it de-stress which might perhaps warrant a smooth, relaxing, chilled out tone to it?

Here is a video we recently produced with a voiceover that made a dry subject more interesting.
